One warning: Okatshe does not take reservations. Inside, the cool 80-seat eatery - which features dark, sleek décor that contrasts with the entrance - serves up sushi, sashimi, ramen and other traditional Asian fare. Patrons entering this hidden izakaya - a Japanese gastropub - walk through a bright candy store, where the door to the restaurant lies behind the counter. The ambitious Garces opened another restaurant at the Tropicana in March, a whimsical take on a speakeasy. It offers 16 drafts and 35 bottles, as well as several types of wine, and eight signature cocktails. After grabbing a bite in the dining room that overlooks the ocean, pop in next door to Bar Olón, a lively lounge inspired by the beer bars of Ecuador. Think: ceviche, oysters and jumbo gulf prawns. Olón, a beach resort town he often visited as a kid, inspired the seafood-heavy menu, too. In March, chef Jose Garces opened this chic restaurant, named for one of his favorite Ecuadorian cities, in the Tropicana Casino & Resort.
